APS Training Manual

The data for this case study was collected in a school at two locations. One illustrates the actual temperature of the supply water required to satisfy the coolest zone served and the other illustrates the impact of supply water temperature on energy performance and comfort. The logic presented in this report does not only apply to school buildings. It applies to any heating system with the capability of varying the primary supply water or air temperature into the occupied areas. Systems resetting hot water or supply air only from outdoor air temperature are likely wasting heat, increasing the wear and tear on the control valves and creating discomfort, at times, in the some served areas. The logic applies to all control systems: DDC, electronic, pneumatic and manual. 8.128
